Tacos y Tamales Festival aims to give back to the community as a portion of proceeds will benefit the local Pilsen Arts & Community House and Frida Community Organization.
The festival is free to attend, however, there is a suggested donation benefiting these great causes. Guests may show support and donate early, which is the most convenient way to use a credit or debit card to enter the festival by donation.
Honoring Marcela Herrera
Marcela Herrera, a beloved member of the Tacos y Tamales family, was tragically struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run, and lost her life in July of 2025 while walking to dinner with her fiancé after working the festival. One year later, her case remains unsolved. Her family is still searching for answers.
Marcela’s laughter, energy, and love for community is everything Tacos y Tamales strives to represent, and her memory lives on within everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Her family has set up a GoFundMe to help support their ongoing search for justice. Every donation goes directly toward keeping her case in the public eye, organizing marches and memorials, and raising awareness that’s still needed to find answers.
